Ccie Logo Hello all, today surfing the net I've found an interesting article by Wendell Odom, and if you're in the Cisco/Networking field I don't need to spend any other word about him, where he talks about the new and updated CCIE V4 Lab. As you know Cisco recently announced a major update to the CCIE Lab which I've already talked of in another post, he written "changes" have been become effective this week while some people already started talking about the beta lab Odom among them.

Here you can read the full article and the author's first impressions.

Hope you'll find it useful,

Lethe.

CCIE in 30 days… or less…

Hello all fellow readers, sorry for the lack of technical content but I've been quite busy with my RHCE study and with the preparation of a course I should teach in two weeks which is making me go crazy (like the phone call yesterday night @ 7 pm telling me this morning 9 am I should go for training on the job on a technology I know very little of…) so really lack the time to post my findings in the world of Linux :)  Study is proceeding quite well and I'm having fun with kickstart configurations, I know it's not really needed by RHCE syllabus but yet it's all good knowledge and experience.

Anyhow I'm writing just post an old one, probably you've already seen it dozens times, that I've found while digging through groupstudy.com archives, this is the message of a CCIE-wanna be in 30, or less days… I hope for the sake of all that is sacred that this guy was just having some fun but yet… He even mention being an MCSE… I felt ashamed of being MCSE myself after reading that :|

"Hi Group,

I just complete my MCSE+I and now I have need for CCIE. I have joined group
because I must have CCIE in 30 days, maybe I can wait for 45 days, but no
longer. I want to finish before May starts, for I have futbol league to play
in then.  If I get the CCIE in 30 days, then maybe I try for a second in the
next 15 days. I need to get CCIE so I can make a bigger money. I hear this
is a good group for to join.

The MCSE have many more tests so I think CCIE may not be as difficult as I
hear. One day I pass two exams, one right after another for the MCSE. This
is also "Expert" level certification, just like CCIE. Some people may not know
this, but a Windows server can be setup like a router. I have done this many
times. I have very high IQ and can study sometimes 2 – 4 hours without a
break.

I see a question about a subnet mask. Is it necessary to know the subnets
other than a 255.255.255.0? I have set these networks up many times, and am
almost an expert with them. One time there were 4 of these networks all
working through a windows box, and I did this in less than 2 hours, and this
include time it take to reboot servers.

I have bought a router on ebay for to help study with. I want to use web
browser for to configure this router, but I cannot seem to get it to come
up.
I use the telnet program (From a Windows Server :) to log into this router
but all there is a command line. It look almost like an old DOS program. I hope
Cisco does not still emulate DOS when Windows has been around many years.
This could a big mistake for them.

If anyone need help on setting routers, let me know. I will be willing to
help. Also, it seems Cisco allow test taker to look at website during CCIE
exam. In the MCSE program there is no help available. You must not look at
any material while taking exam. I think it should be fun to have a book open
exam.

Do you think I should get a Voice CCIE, or a Security CCIE for the second
CCIE I get. I am not familiar with the differences between them? I did recently
set up Security for Microsoft Vista, so maybe Security should be the way to go.

Also I want to say to Darby. You seem like a nice man (i hope you are man,
not woman. if so i apologize). You should try for to relax a little more and
take care of your health. If you can't get CCIE this week, you will be able to
get it next week. I know sometimes you get in a hurry, but your health is more
important than passing exam this week. Just make up study on the weekend and
take exam the following week. You should trust yourself more and not spend
so much money on instructions. Do you have relationship with your instructor?
You seem very close.

One more question. What does HTH mean?

HTH," <– You ask what this does actually mean and use it in your post?

Sure MCSE is closed book and I think in the literal sense of the word, I highly doubt this guy actually ever opened a book (in the MCSE track or whatever…) to read what's written inside… maybe a pdf with dumps it's all he read.

I know it's not nice making fun out of other people but I could not resist this one… On  a side note both here on the blog, in my mail and via pm on the site where I'm one of the moderators I've received requests for any kind of dumps, I've already replied in the comment and simply ignored the emails just to make it clear once again I'm dump-free IT Pro and I hate even the word itself. Dumps don't make your career easier, dumps don't help you in real life, dumps don't get you a job just a piece of paper, dumps don't make you look smarter… In one word dumps are for losers, so please kindly avoid asking me for dumps I don't use them, I don't endorse them nor I know where you could get one. Simple as that.

Not properly a technical post anyhow I think important. This morning I went Amazon for shopping some books and noticed Ciscopress is going to publish the fourth edition of their CCIE Routing and Switching Exam Certification Guide which as you know is an invaluable for anyone preparing for the new CCIE R&S lab. The book is scheduled to be released for early October and it’ll have the same style of other Ciscopress books and it’ll include some new content like :

- BGP Routing Policies (I already love this part!)

- An Extended QoS coverage

- An Extended WAN coverage

- More MPLS

- IPV6 redistribution (aye!)

- Troubleshooting and Network Optimization

It’s already available a rough cut edition via Safari subscription here I’ll try to get a copy and eventually will write something more about it, for now I’m really excited about this new release, it seems my shopping will wait for some time until this book is published.

Cheer Lethe.
