Who am I?

First of all thanks for visiting the blog!

If you ended here probably you want to know a little bit more about me, my name is Daniele Catanesi and I'm an Italian Architect/Systems Engineer specialized in the design and management of complex and infrastructure and high available systems and integration between Microsoft and *nix technologies.

I have more than 10 years of experience in the IT field and currently hold various certifications with main IT vendors (Microsoft, Cisco, VmWare, Linux). I used to work as a full time trainer on Microsoft and Linux technologies and recently moved to Switzerland working for an international Oil and Energy research company as a Linux Systems Engineer.

What I like.

I love technology, that’s pretty obvious, but I love and firmly believe in Open Source technologies and I try to suggest and implement them every time I can.

I love fantasy, so if you’re thinking to send me a gift send me an R.A. Salvatore’s book and I’ll be an happy geek.

I love discovering new stuff every day, I like to find new solutions to problems and enhance the ones I already know. IT is a continuous learning process and I could live without learning something new every day.

What I don’t like.

I don’t like coding (at all!). Even if I started my career as a developer and I’m still very fascinated by the process of creating new programs/tools I could never do that for 8+ hours a day.

Basically scripting for 1 hour a day is fun, doing that every day for all the day is boring to me, no offense to fellow programmers.

About the site.

I started this blog more or less 1 year ago to share with other people my everyday’s experiences and to share the joys and tribulations of the life of an IT freelance. Since then a lot has changed, I’ve met a lot of cool people, I have hundreds of visits every day and I’m proud to say I’ve even helped a few people with choosing the right path for their career or with technical problems. I started this as a kind of “hobby” and could never expect such a success, so let me thank you every reader for this!

I’m a former trainer so I strongly believe in knowledge sharing, I know this has been abused by a lot of people and sites (like one very famous braindumps site) but I’m always trying to bring fresh content to the site while trying to actually show REAL problems for REAL admins.

If you want to know more about me just feel free to write me an email or ask, otherwise here's my Linkedin full profile http://www.linkedin.com/in/catanesi feel free to connect me!
